I bought one of these last summer to place next to our garden arbour. It works as soon as the sunlight hits the solar panel, but the moment it goes behind a cloud, the water stops running. But it doesn't matter, this feature is free to run, the birds love it, as do mozzies so make sure you clean out the algae regularly otherwise they will breed in your water feature! All in all though, I was pleased with my purchase.
