Classic documentary films from the BFI

In 1984 a group of independent film-makers at the Miners' picket lines and marches recorded the testimonies of strikers, their wives and supporters, to make a stand against the anti-strike propaganda that dominated the media:

THE MINERS' CAMPAIGN TAPES tackles issues which continue to occupy us today: the right to demonstrate, police tactics, political double-speak, the role of the media. BFI 92 minute DVD with illustrated booklet, price just £6.99 (mrrp £12.99).

Very interesting but also sad to watch at the sametime. The 'best' moments were the women's support groups women talking & public speaking and the Doncaster N.U.M. rep's views of the strike and the class war-classic stuff.

Oh dear - this DVD brought it all back - the collecting food outside Sainsburys on a Saturday, the marches, the awful, impotent anger and frustration felt when watching whole communities destroyed without remorse... and the sinking feeling of knowing that this is our future.

Excellent DVD - great unseen footage and interviews of a historic yet sad episode in trade union movement. Detailed boklet to support the various features. A must for any social historian and socialist. Our history helps form our future and we can only learn lessons from films like these, that capitalism damages and destroys the people it serves, and a united community is strenght.
