JS Bachs Easter and Whitsun Cantatas are taken from John Eliot Gardiners landmark recordings with the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists.

The Easter set contains Cantatas for Easter Sunday and Monday, plus the four Sundays after Easter. Recorded in the churches at Eisenach, Arnstadt and Altenburg where Bach spent his early years, these Cantatas form the pivotal part of the Easter ceremonies.

The Whitsun series has Cantatas for the fifth Sunday after Easter, Whit Sunday, Whit Tuesday and Trinity Sunday. Recorded in Dresden where Bach played keyboard in 1717, and in England at Sherborne Abbey, Long Melford and St Magnus, Kirkwall.
