Save vinyl and tape to your PC and copy to CD with the ION USB turntable.

If you are the proud owner of a cherished vinyl collection that you would love to transfer into digital files to save on your PC, burn onto CD or download to your MP3 player, then this revolutionary new ION USB turntable is a wonderfully simple and inexpensive solution.

It takes just a few minutes to set up the turntable and load the 'Audacity' software onto your computer using the extremely user-friendly guide. A single USB cable (supplied) is all you need to connect the two. All 33.3, 45 and 78 RPM records are downloadable and it is compatible with MACs also. (Please note that for 78 RPM records, the USB turntable will digitise the vinyl record at a slower speed and then convert it up to 78 RPM).

There is a choice of two models: "Classic" (with lid) at just £79.95 (saving £40) and "Contemporary" which also allows you to connect any tape recorder to digitise these recordings as well for just £99.95 (saving £20). (Please note - only the contemporary model allows you to connect a tape recorder).

'Audacity' editing software helps to clean up recordings as well as providing the full range of editing functions including pitch control, selections, dividing, noise removal and labelling.

The turntable can also be connected to speakers or your existing stereo for use as a record player.(33.3 & 45 RPM only)

This is such a good idea! The instructions are clear, giving details of a couple of issues there might be & how to solve them, and the product is really easy to use. Well worth every penny.

I'm assuming that the reviewer who awarded the product one star has a PC, but for what it is, the Ion is actually pretty easy to use. The Audacity software takes some time to get used to, but you should be able to start digitising your vinyl within half an hour. Alternatively, there is a review on the vinyl/tape digitiser box which if you follow the advice, will save you shelling out a lot of money. By the way, Audacity doesn't allow you to convert vinyl Phil Collins records.

Just received this "product", it couldn't look and feel cheaper if it had been made by the "Blue Peter Team" from an old packet of cornflakes and an old fairy liquid bottle! Not at all surprised that when I tried to use the turntable it failed to start. The total product "components", and I use that term somewhat tongue in cheek, plus the cheap Chinese labour probably cost five UK pounds. Return to base? You bet I will! Hope to get my money back? Well, I'm an eternal optimist. Buy another? Not on your life! I have a large collection of vinyl and thought this might be a good idea; it seems that it will stay that way, sadly just "an idea" until I find a better product at a more realistic price! Is there one out there? Or shall I just keep on buying up more CDs to replace the vinyl? Guardian Unlimited, you should take a good close look at yourselves for recommending this piece of tat! Not even worth a one star rating but the system won't allow me to enter a zero star marking! C'est la vie......
