I am just about to purchase a pair of these for my other half after being impressed with the pair I bought myself last year. I have to say however that I am amazed by some peoples negative response. These treads are designed for use on actual ice and snow, not merely frosty pavements, indeed we have not had any weather this winter on these shores to warrant their usage - YET. Any golfer will tell you that their golf shoes are removed the minute they leave the course for fear of damage and the same applies to a sprinters running shoes – of course these items will wear badly on a surface that will not yield. The great thing is these treads can be removed and replaced in seconds as the conditions dictate and therefore with the right weather and some common sense can prove absolutely invaluable!

A reply from the team at BVG: We'd like to apologise to customers who were not entirely happy with our ice treads. We have a 10-day returns policy if you find that an item is just not right for you. We have rigorously tested our ice treads for useability and durability, but they are primarily designed for walking on surfaces with a layer of ice or snow. They are not suitable for wear on tarmac, stone or concrete, and you can easily take them off to walk in areas where snow has cleared. We have taken all comments on board and amended our product description accordingly. Equally, we're happy to answer any questions you may have on the phonenumber mentioned above.

Such a good idea but we're still trying to figure out how on earth they fit onto your shoe and the sizing is very unrepresentative of actual shoe size.

How can this rate 5 stars? All the reviews are dreadful!
Studs fell off the first time I came to a cleared path.

Expensive and badly made. We have far cheaper and better studded oversoles (?) here in Finland. Still, better than nothing!

These urban crampons provide a perfect set of spurs in cases where, say, a BMW 7 Series drives too close and one's leg needs to move violently outwards to maintain balance. The resulting additional grip on vehicle paintwork helps to steady the bike very quickly, and the resulting scratch is most satisfying.
