This form of edible honeysuckle (Lonicera Caerula var. Kamtschtica) originates from Siberia and is therefore ultra-hardy and drought-tolerant plus disease free. The attractive shrub grows about 3ft tall by 3ft wide and produces a delicious crop of long, purple/blue fruits from May onwards.
They can remain productive for up to 30 years and provide great value for money. The seedless berries are similar in flavour to that of wild blueberries and can be eaten fresh, made into jam, jelly and ice cream. Two plants are required for pollination of one another.
You can buy two plants supplied in 9cm pots for £19.95.
