The Goji berry is a deep-red fruit, about the same size as a raisin. It is claimed that these berries contain, weight for weight, more vitamin C than oranges, more beta-carotene than carrots and more iron than steak, hence their status as a popular superfood.
Known as the 'happy berry', these very sweet fruits taste something like a cross between a cranberry and a cherry.
You can grow the berries at home in any well-drained soil in a sunny position. They are drought tolerant, hardy down to about -15C, and should yield about 1kg of fruit in their second year.
