Classic 80's BBC drama starring Bob Peck.
You can now buy one of those moments in television drama that gripped an entire nation. Edge of Darkness is a wonderful, dark and humanistic drama of father/daughter relationships and terrifying conspiracies within the nuclear power industry. Peck is quite superb. The Edge of Darkness DVD also features a BAFTA winning score from Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen.

As good as I remembered - and far better than the film.

After much searching I found and bought a copy a little while ago. It is flawless and hasnt aged since 1985 when I first saw it. I shudder to think what mangling Mel Gibson has done in the remake but if it introduces a new set of viewers to the old classic then it might do some good. The story is even more an allegory of our dark times. Intriguingly the Wiki article on EOD outlines alusions to the Green Man the non equivalent analogue of the the earth mother goddess also suppressed by christianity. It even identifies a fashion item 20 years ahead of time - ballroom dancing. Just get it.

An excellent series - BBC drama at it's best. The story is advanced by the 'apparent' dialogue between Bob Peck's character - Craven, and his dead daughter.
One of the best anti-nuclear madness stories ever. Very timely re-issued in these carbon-obsessed times.

This 4 part series summed up beautifully the inherently sinister nature of all things nuclear along with a great portrayal of British/ American security services........ Comfortably one of the best dramas made for TV...........

Quite simply the most astonishingly brilliant drama in TV history. Peck is brilliant, the screenplay, story and casting is brilliant, every character is superbly played. I have lost count of the number of times I have seen it and I never tire of it; you must watch it before you die.

Hard to image that this was the product of the same man who gave us Kelley's Hero's with Telly, Clint Donald...and lets not forget Z cars! Brilliant work! Watch out for excellent Don Joe Baker as maverick.....loose cannon, CIA op of Reagan era American Foreign policy. Casting is impeccable. Everyone works. A rare piece of TV. Bob Peck as Craven the central character,is at his best. Freudian and Greek shades, with contemporary (then) nuclear reprocessing paranoia and subterfuge-a masterpiece. "Got a problem Mr. Jedburg?"
